The goal:
Sapper Studio was established in 2024:

1) To publish games that can support professional training and development, particularly in a military, academic or political context, but that also can be played for recreational enjoyment.

2) To support the creation and delivery of tabletop games by professional clients, drawing from best practices in the commercial gaming industry to improve the quality and user experience of 'serious' games.

Clients of Sapper Studio include the University of Greenwich, Vedette Consulting, Nuts! Publishing and PHALANX.

A 'Sapper':
A Sapper is a combat engineer, a frontline soldier who fixes, clears, demolishes and repairs. They are unsung but invaluable on the battlefield. In a tabletop gaming context, Sapper Studio hopes to fulfil a similar role.
(The image shows a Sapper from the French Army, circa 1853.)

About me:
I live in London, UK. Prior to establishing Sapper Studio I was Head of Development at a hobby board game publisher called PHALANX.
I am founder and editor of the award-winning Punched (online) gaming magazine, and organiser of PunchedCON, the largest hobby wargame convention in the UK.
For fun I play historically-themed board games, and sail a bit when I can.
